Butterfly Tongues, SeaBonz, Gardening, and Bathing Birds

The butterflies are now all hatched and happily eating. They especially like slices of orange from the tree in our backyard. Here we were treated to seeing one unfurl its tongue (a.k.a. proboscis) and drink from the orange.

Iain and Josephine had a lot of fun playing with our set of SeaBonz. Here's a wonderful description from the manufacture of exactly what they are: "SeaBonz are 50 maritime, jiggly-jelly, slippery-slithery, shiny, sea-throughy, no spiny, anatomically incorrect pieces that interconnect with bendable socket joints!" That pretty much sums it up.

Next we headed out to the garden, as we had another bunch of donated plants that we needed to get into the ground--more daylilies and wooly lambs' ears. Iain helped to dig holes in which to place the new plants.

And much to everyone's excitement, he found a worm! He set it carefully nearby (okay...actually he refused to touch it, and instead I set it carefully nearby) to be relocated once the plants were in place.

Josephine also planted some of the daylilies.

And not to be outdone by Iain, Josephine also found her very own worm (which, yes, she also refused to touch). Ah . . . worms . . . always an auspicous finding (in a garden, that is)!

And finally the daylilies were all planted!

Next we moved onto the wooly lambs' ears. Josephine took one out of the container . . .

. . . and carefully set it into the ground.

VoilĂ ! The wooly lambs' ears are all planted!

One last thing . . . we finally caught some birds in the act of bathing in our little bird bath. Yippee!
