More Forts, Finger Knitting, More Playhouse Shingling, and Cornstarch Sculptures

Today we had three separate forts built in the backyard. This one belonged to Orianna and Josephine . . .

. . . peek-a-boo! And there they are inside, drawing and snacking.

Ryan built his by leaning bamboo poles up against the swingset.

And here is Katie and Eden's fort.

Inside, Katie was teaching Eden how to finger knit. Katie was fantastic at it . . . I'd never heard of such a thing before! Here is a link to an article on it from Wikipedia:

There are more links from the article to instructions.

And here is Katie with the completed scarf . . . all knitted using her fingers!

Sven came home early from work to finish the shingling on the playhouse.

Later on I took out cornstarch packing peanuts, and the kids sculpted with them by dipping them into water.

Katie, with the help of an abundance of water, turned her cornstarch peanuts into a pile of mush, and the entire activity into a completely tactile experience.
