Paper Spiderwebs

Today we made paper spiderwebs. They are made in the same way paper snowflakes are made, only using black papers. The one problem, though, is that eight layers of construction paper are too difficult for children to cut, so I ended up doing the cutting. They were great at all the other steps, though.

Here is Eden carefully folding over her paper using the bone folder.

Once Eden finished her cobwebs, she went on to color on blank sheets of black construction paper with colored pencils. The effect was really striking.

Ryan's photos are great and show the whole process, from beginning to end (with plenty of fun facial expressions along the way). Here he is folding the paper.

Next, using the spiderweb template, he traced onto the paper using a white colored pencil.

After I cut along his tracings, he unfolded the spiderweb.

Ta da!

Here's Marie unfolding her spiderweb . . .

. . . and then also taking a peek through it.

Orianna also made a spiderweb. Here she is folding the paper . . .

. . . and then opening it up.

Those are cool spider webs! What fun! I saw them somewhere and lost track of how you fold the paper. do you fold it into quarters and then in half? Thanks! Julie
